Court-Appointed Independent Monitor of the UAW Certifies 2023 International Officer Run-off Election
This afternoon, the Court-Appointed Independent Monitor of the UAW certified the International Officer Run-off Election for UAW President by calling the election for Shawn Fain. The unofficial count is Shawn Fain 69,459 and Ray Curry 68,976. Shawn Fain will be sworn in as UAW President on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
All of us in Region 8 would like to thank Ray Curry for his service to Region 8 and the International Union. Ray is one of our own from Region 8 and we wish him the best.
In addition, we extend our congratulations to UAW President elect Shawn Fain. As Region 8 Director, I look forward to working with the International Executive Board to serve our membership.
As we move forward, 2023 will bring our union challenges as prepare for contract negotiations that will have a tremendous impact on the BIG 3 and all sectors of the UAW. The UAW will need solidarity to achieve the goals our members desire for contracts that our members deserve. Elections are always decisive, but it is time we place the election behind us and move forward. We are the UAW and together we win, in Solidarity.
